Believe it or not, if you own land in Santaquin, then you’re a part owner of a nearly $1 Billion corporation.
The City anticipates that it will spend millions of dollars this year to keep the water running and toilets flushing; keeping the roads clear of snow and the parks green and clean; to keep the Police Department operating and the Fire Department responding to fires.
After all the upkeep, there will be a surprising amount of money left over and the City can’t even save it! They’re nearing the State imposed cap of 35% of income in savings.
Income from impact fees are far above what was projected for the year. (Impact fees are paid by developers and in turn paid by new home owners.)
So, if the City can’t save the money, then they have to spend it.
What would you like them to spend it on? The City Administration proposed several ideas to the City Council, but your ideas are just as good! If you can dream it and others agree that it’s a good idea, the City can make it happen!
Unfortunately, though, these impact fees are from growth. Santaquin can’t grow forever.
