On January 19th, at Orchard Hills Elementary School, five women gathered as the School Community Council to discuss how to best help the kids learn and be safe.

They discussed goals for teachers and technicians. They planned how they were going to spend tens of thousands of dollars.

Upgrades to the school were brought up, as well as the usual chaotic traffic after school.

They spoke about a bus route that will soon be discontinued and where crosswalks should go, but no one from that neighborhood was there to give their opinion on the matter.

The Council did the best they could to make decisions that would effect hundreds of students and  parents.

These brave women shouldered the burden that they had accepted, yet wondered: how could they get more parents to learn what is happening and to give their input?
