The Hills at Summit Ridge is an ongoing project by Region Design LLC to develop nearly 600 homes as well as a potential site of a church building for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The developer’s plans were submitted to the Development Review Committee (DRC) for analysis.
On Tuesday, January 11th, the DRC discussed something concerning with the developer.
Due to the steep hills of Summit Ridge, the land needs to be mass graded, or leveled for development. As part of that leveling, they would need to remove material that sits on top of a 16 inch culinary water pipe that will soon be joined by another 16 inch pressurized irrigation pipe.
The plans asked that the pipe be moved. The DRC indicated that that pipe could not be moved and stressed how high of a priority it is to protect. That pipe carries culinary water to a thousand homes in Santaquin.
The city said that the plans would have to be changed so that ground is thick enough to insulate the water pipe during the winters.
